What we do

FLAC (Fredericton Legal Advice Clinic, Inc.) is a non-profit organization that offers free legal advice and information to clients in the Fredericton and surrounding area. Our goal is to offer a welcoming venue where a broad range of people can obtain legal services that they could not otherwise access or afford. These appointments are to assist people who do not have legal counsel and who are self-represented.

FLAC administers a Legal Advice Clinic, that allows clients who have legal issues in most areas of law to speak to a practicing lawyer for a half-hour appointment.

FLAC provides each client with legal information from the student volunteer and basic legal advice from the supervising lawyer. Most of the issues we handle involve landlord/tenant issues, or family, criminal or employment law. We do however provide information and advice on other issues as they arise.

The appointments run second and last Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Over-the-Phone Appointments

During the summer, FLAC does over-the-phone appointments only.

In person Appointments

From September through April, FLAC does both over-the-phone appointments and in-person appointments.
The in-person appointments run under the following three clinics: two on Fredericton's north side (including one at St. Mary's First Nation) and another on the south side. Clinics operate one or two evenings per month at each location. These by-appointment-only clinics operate on a first come first serve basis.
The Legal Advice Clinic is accessible by appointment ONLY.
